The UNO R3 is where most makers start. It runs at 16 MHz on the ATmega328P, tolerates the occasional wiring mistake, and works with thousands of tutorials, libraries and shields. Plug it into your computer with the included cable, open the Arduino IDE and upload the Blink example — then move on to sensors, motors and displays. This compatible board uses the socketed DIP chip, so you can even replace the microcontroller if it is damaged.
