PETra

Petra is a voice assistant built by PlastiBytes for exhibition stands. Visitors speak to her, and she answers aloud, takes photos, identifies objects (for example, whether an item can be recycled) and controls other devices on the stand, including an ePaper display and a smart lamp.

Petra is a compact voice assistant designed for exhibitions.

Talks: Visitors say "Hey Petra", ask a question, and she answers aloud using AI from xiaozhi.me.
Sees: A built-in camera takes photos and identifies objects, for example whether an item can be recycled.
Shows: Photos, QR codes, recycling answers and step-by-step guides appear on an ePaper panel.
Controls: The stand lamp is switched on or off by voice. The lamp also works on its own through its presence sensor.

The system has three devices that work independently and communicate over the xiaozhi.me MCP endpoint and the local Wi-Fi:

Petra: Seeed XIAO ESP32S3 Sense with camera, microphone, speaker, OLED, LiPo battery and a 3D-printed case.
ePaper panel: Seeed XIAO 7.5" ePaper (ESP32-C3).
Smart bulb: XIAO ESP32-C3 with presence sensor and relay.

Firmware uses ESP-IDF and PlatformIO. The repository includes a build guide, troubleshooting notes, a PCB test tool and a PC-based virtual display.
